Ally Sponsored Financial Literacy Series Wins Michigan EMMY Award

The Ally Financial sponsored “Get Smart with Your Money” television spots recently won a Michigan EMMY in the Community/Public Service (PSA) category.


The five vignettes were created by Detroit Public Television (DPTV) based on Ally’s financial literacy education program, Wallet Wise. The videos teach the basic money concepts found in the Wallet Wise program, but adapted to reach a younger audience. Featuring super heroes like The Earner, The Spendthrift and The Calculator, the spots focus on the adventures and challenges they face while learning how to earn money doing chores, save money and how to resist impulse buying.

“We are extremely proud that this series has been recognized with a Michigan EMMY,” said Gina Proia, chief communications officer and head of citizenship efforts at Ally. “We believe that teaching children about money at an early age helps them build good habits for the future, and we are pleased that our relationship with DPTV provides a platform to help advance financial literacy for young people.”


The series will continue to air through the rest of 2016 on WTVS Channel 56 in Detroit and will soon be seen on Charlotte public television. The spots can be viewed at

Michigan EMMY’s were created by the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). An EMMY represents the most experienced and talented television professionals from all disciplines in the industry.
