Colleagues across Assurant are making spirits bright this holiday season. While donating to those less fortunate, they’re also delivering smiles.
“During the holidays and year-round, Assurant employees demonstrate the importance of giving back to the community. With their generosity and support of hometown charities, they embody the true spirit of the season,” said Assurant President and CEO Alan B. Colberg.
Several Assurant offices donated to Toys for Tots, a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, to help children who are without. In Puerto Rico, employees partnered with Make-A-Wish® to fulfill dreams for children suffering from illnesses.
Santa’s Assurant helpers in Miami participated in Project Elf, collecting holiday gifts for children who attend Air Base K-8 Center, a local magnet school. Woodbury colleagues donated gifts to “Santa Shop” for Cornerstone, a violence prevention organization, to help children from abusive backgrounds experience the joy of giving by “shopping” for their families.
At Assurant’s York, Pa. mobile repair facility a friendly employee competition was held to see which departments could collect the most donations for York Food Bank. This resulted in a contribution of nearly 10,000 pounds, far exceeding the nearly 200 pounds donated in prior years. Atlanta employees held a food drive for MUST ministries, while in Kansas City, employees and their families participated in Family Night at Harvesters to stock shelves and organize canned food for local families in need. Milwaukee volunteers put up holiday decorations and sorted food and clothing donations for Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Joy House.
