The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Business received a grant from BB&T to support paid internship opportunities for 12 business students at San Antonio nonprofits. Working to advance the areas of community economic development, children and youth, education and literacy and social justice, BB&T selected six nonprofit organizations to participate in the BB&T Nonprofit Internship Program.
Nonprofit organizations included the Boys & Girls Club, Catholic Charities, Family Service Association, Goodwill, the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders and San Antonio Education Partnership.
“BB&T has always been a partner, an advocate and a force for change. We share our strength and knowledge to enrich our neighborhoods through community development, leadership and innovation. The BB&T Intern Program, in partnership with UTSA College of Business, has a positive impact on the students’ learning as well as on the capacity of the nonprofit organizations to deliver needed services to San Antonio residents,” said Mark A. Nerio, BB&T Vice President, Community Development.
Students were challenged to use their knowledge and skills to benefit the nonprofit sector, while allowing the overall experience to enhance their own growth and understanding of classroom concepts.
The UTSA College of Business transforms students from the curious and hopeful into confident and career-ready young professionals. The college aims to be the best in class by focusing on educational programs that provide both applied business and technical skills.
Congratulations BB&T Corporation!
