It’s a new day for volunteering at BBVA Compass. The bank recently hosted its first Day of Service, designed to provide team members with opportunities to address specific community needs and make a bigger impact across the bank’s footprint.
Two Day of Service campaigns – one in the summer and the other coming in the fall – rally volunteers around larger-scale BBVA-Compass organized events, like promoting adult financial literacy or working with our community partner organizations.
“The idea is to provide employees with activities that meet at the intersection of the bank’s business strategy and the community’s needs,” said BBVA Compass Director of Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Reymundo Ocañas. “The bank’s most significant opportunity is to use our expertise as a financial institution to respond to a community need — with financial education, for example, whether that’s for small business owners, potential homebuyers or individuals needing general banking knowledge.”
The first Day of Service, held earlier this month, focused on community development service activities across the bank’s footprint. Nearly 200 mortgage banking officers, workplace solutions officers and other employee volunteers provided financial literacy lessons to adults using new technology and equipment through more than 50 homeownership and personal finance workshops in markets across the U.S.
“We are extremely proud of our employee volunteers for everything they do in the community, whether it’s a BBVA Compass-sponsored event or something else that they’re passionate about,” Ocañas said. “It’s because of their dedication and commitment that we’re able to help build stronger communities and brighter futures.”
Congratulations BBVA Compass!
