BBVA Compass volunteers and Houston Dash players gave new life to a Houston family’s home as part of a joint effort to revitalize the vibrant neighborhood around BBVA Compass Stadium. The home renovation is for the BBVA Compass and Dynamo Charities Building a Better Houston initiative, and was completed in partnership with Rebuilding Together-Houston. This was the bank’s third annual renovation through the Building a Better Houston initiative, and the first for the Dash, the city’s new women’s professional soccer team. “With BBVA Compass Stadium sitting in the heart of the East End, the neighborhood has become a special place for the bank and we want to make sure we help revitalize other parts of the East End, too,” said BBVA Compass South Texas Regional Global Wealth Executive Karen Dixon.
The home improvements were made through a community development grant from the BBVA Compass Foundation. Those repairs included the installation of new plumbing, windows and screen doors. The Building a Better Houston initiative began in 2012. Multiple events are held throughout the year as part of the initiative, such as financial education events and soccer clinics.
On July 26, the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup will be played at BBVA Compass Stadium, and will help fund the initiative’s Business of Sports program for local high school students in the fall. “Providing financial education to students in our communities is a top priority for the bank,” said BBVA Compass Director of Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Reymundo Ocañas. “Building a Better Houston is a great way to work toward that goal.”
Congratulations BBVA Compass!
