Expo Emprende is an annual event that encourages students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities. The event brings together the Island’s main universities that serve as a model of transformative action in order to promote the development of experiences that stimulate student’s entrepreneurial skills.

Students from 7th to 12th grade from public and private schools in the Island had the opportunity to compete and exhibit their products or services in a micro-enterprise competition. At the business ideas competition and the solutions to the island challenges competition, students were able to formally present their ideas to a multisectorial panel of judges.

The event had a student fair where participants interacted and received assessment from mentors, participated in guided visits through the university campus and learned about internship opportunities in local companies.

Gloria Viscasillas, Echar Pa’lante leader and vice president at Banco Popular said “the main objective is to integrate what students learn during Expo Emprende in their daily experiences so they can develop essential entrepreneurial skills. The Expo serves as inspiration, for students and teachers, to create and promote innovative programs in their schools in order to strengthen the entrepreneurial mentality in our society”.
