Fall is the Season for Discover Cares!

Human Resources employees read to students and created an outdoor classroom at Hyde Park Elementary School in Waukegan.

It all starts with a playground, as nearly 200 Corporate Finance employees gave preschool students at Oak Park Day Nursery the opportunity to play.

What used to be a month of caring has turned into a year-round volunteer campaign for Discover employees across the country, who are bettering their communities, providing much-needed assistance, and demonstrating Discover’s core value of volunteerism this fall and beyond.

Nearly 200 Corporate Finance employees for Discover partnered with KaBOOM! to build an entire playground in one day! Employees completed tasks such as shoveling mulch, mixing/moving concrete, painting picnic tables and garden boxes, constructing a sandbox and putting together play equipment, creating an energizing and safe place for the students of Oak Park Day Nursery to play!

More than 400 Business Technology employees traveled to Lambs Farm in Libertyville to work on projects benefitting 13 different organizations. From creating murals, planter boxes and mosaics for local schools and Ronald McDonald House to building interior walls to be used with a Habitat for Humanity home, employees completed tasks that will benefit thousands of individuals in the Chicagoland area.

Discover’s Corporate Communications team traveled to the Boys and Girls Club, providing the building with updates, including new landscaping and a fresh coat of paint. Their volunteer event served as one of monthly volunteer activities that will be offered as part of the new partnership with the Boys and Girls Club.

Human Resources employees gathered at Hyde Park Elementary School in Waukegan, creating an outdoor classroom and gardening space. They also sat down with students and participated in the read-with-me program allowing for employees and students to read a story together and then reflect on the story by completing an art project.
