Over the past few months, Fifth Third Bank has partnered with local organizations and government agencies to reach unbanked and under-banked consumers in its communities. Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Fifth Third employee volunteers promoted and supported free tax preparation services in Fifth Third banking centers and national tax preparation centers located in low-to-moderate income areas.

As a result of successful partnerships with community organizations, free tax preparation services were provided to over 6500 individuals, totaling more than $4,214,890.00 in refunds and $1,272,163.00 in Earned Income Tax Credit. In addition to tax preparation services, Fifth Third Bank provided financial education workshops and extended banking services to individual’s receiving tax preparation assistance.
