In conjunction with its focus 2014 advisor conference, the LPL Financial Foundation held a volunteer event to benefit The Preuss School, a San Diego-based college preparatory institution for highly motivated, underserved students who strive to become the first in their families to attend college. More than 100 LPL Financial advisors were joined by several of the company’s executive leaders and employee volunteers to collate 1,000 school supply bags stuffed with paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, and more.
In addition, the Foundation presented Scott Barton, principal of The Preuss School, with a donation to support its mentoring program.
“It is inspiring to see LPL employees, advisors, and sponsors step up as strong community partners, sharing their time, talent, and treasure. Our students and their families will really appreciate their school supply bags,” said Barton.
The LPL Financial Foundation’s mission is to foster economic empowerment for underserved individuals and families in its local communities. It is an enabling partner to organizations that help disadvantaged individuals achieve their aspirations in life.
“Education is perhaps the most critical factor in empowering youth to set and achieve goals,” said Heather Randolph Carter, president of the LPL Financial Foundation. “The Foundation couldn’t be happier to support The Preuss School and its students not only by providing a few of the essential items they need to be successful in school, but also by offering our encouragement and support as they start the next chapter in their academic careers.”
Generous sponsorship was provided by AIG, GES, Nationwide Financial, and Resource Real Estate.
Congratulations LPL Financial!
