Every spring for the last 25 years, employees from MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group), Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA), Inc., and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation across the country have united for an important cause: raising funds for the March of Dimes. This year, employees raised nearly $40,000 bringing the 25-year total employee donation, coupled with the bank’s employee matching gift program, to more than $1.2 million.
“Our March of Dimes campaign is really a grass-roots effort,” said Kevin Cronin, head of the bank’s U.S. Wholesale Banking business unit, who spearheads the initiative. “In addition to the 200-plus team members who participate in the annual March for Babies fundraising walks, our employees develop with their own fundraising ideas.”
This year, the fundraising events included restaurant events in New York; an empanada breakfast sale in the bank’s New Jersey office; Jeans Friday in Chicago, New York, and New Jersey (an opportunity to donate a small sum to wear jeans to the office on Fridays); and a silent auction in Los Angeles that included the opportunity to bid on a corner office; to name just a few.
“We’ve found that the program not only raises funds for the March of Dimes’ important work, but is also a great team building exercise that our employees really enjoy,” said Cronin.
The March of Dimes was founded to research and eliminate polio. After successfully eradicating the disease in the U.S., it turned its attention to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and other causes of infant mortality.
Congratulations MUFG Union Bank N.A.!
