On Saturday, June 11th and in the days leading up to it, over 85,000 Citi employees, alumni, clients, family and friends turned out in 500+ cities across 91 countries to volunteer on service projects ranging from urban revitalization to literacy and education, career readiness, environmental conservation and disaster relief. Since the inaugural Global Community Day in 2006, Citi volunteers have contributed more than 3.5 million hours of service.
“Volunteerism is a key part of giving back to the communities we serve around the globe,” said Citi CEO Michael Corbat. “My colleagues and I share the view that our success as a company is inextricably linked to the positive outcomes and progress we can help enable for others.”
While Citi employees volunteer year-round, Global Community Day has become an annual tradition that symbolizes our commitment to enabling progress through service. In short, Global Community Day – and our year-round commitment to volunteerism – enable us to succeed in serving individuals, communities, institutions and cities around the world.
