People’s United Bank Educates Youth During America Saves Week

During America Saves Week 2014 (February 24 – March 1), and as part of a year-round effort to deliver financial education to all age groups, People’s United Bank joined forces with local organizations throughout its footprint to promote the importance and benefits of saving. People’s United Bank, an America Saves partner, collaborated with other local America Saves members including Job Corps – the nation’s largest career training and education program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor – for an event to teach young adults about financial management.

The event, “Welcome to the Real World,” offered an interactive career exploration and money management exercise that reflects the daily challenges of managing finances as a working adult. Students were provided with a hypothetical monthly salary based on their occupational choice and then given the opportunity to make lifestyle and budget choices.
