The Society for Financial Education and Professional Development, Inc. (SFE&PD) is a leading financial literacy and professional development nonprofit organization on a mission to enhance financial and economic literacy in the United States. For nearly 20 years, SFE&PD has spearheaded successful financial education initiatives in communities nationwide and taught money management skills to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
SFE&PD provides customized financial education workshops and seminars for corporate, government and nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions. The workshops and seminars are designed, including those presented to employees in the workplace, to increase the financial knowledge of attendees and help them make informed financial decisions to insure their long-term financial well-being.
Every fall, SFE&PD hosts an annual professional development conference to bring financial literacy advocates, educators and professionals in the financial education sector together to network, and develop new strategies to increase the financial literacy of Americans nationwide.
This year, financial literacy curriculum development projects have been a cornerstone of SFE&PD’s client work. Each curriculum development project expands SFE&PD’s reach to individuals at each life stage.
SFE&PD is launching a new pilot project, the SFE&PD Student Ambassadors, to provide financial literacy training to college student “ambassadors” at selected universities. SFE&PD will teach student ambassadors about personal money management, credit, student loans, public relations, marketing, and effective advocacy outreach. Student ambassadors will provide peer-to-peer counseling, conduct financial counseling sessions and plan campus-wide financial literacy events.
