State Farm Bank ensures students start the new school year with financial education and new backpacks filled with supplies. State Farm Bank has sponsored and provided backpacks full of supplies to the Back 2 School Alliance’s Backpack Giveaway Party for seven years. Through an annual associate-driven school supply drive, State Farm associates contributed 431 backpacks filled with supplies. More than 3,100 people attended the Party and more than 2,500 backpacks were provided to low income youth in the community.

Forty State Farm Bank associates attended the Party and provided financial education games for elementary, middle, and high school students on needs and wants, fixed and variable expenses, credit, budgeting and savings, and buying and insuring a car. Adults were also invited to join the financial education games through financial education quiz shows on credit and budgets. Students and adults that participated in the games to learn more about financial concepts were provided State Farm Bank Bucks, which were used at the State Farm Bank store.

“It was amazing to see the kids work through the needs and wants concepts they just learned at the store. Sometimes the students would go right to the fun table, but then they would take a moment and turn towards the lunch bag table, because they needed a lunch bag,” said Garry Fulk, State Farm Bank Senior Bank Business Analyst.
