Books, tuition, supplies—it all adds up so fast. The total cost of higher education is a concern for many high school students this time of year as they prepare for college entry in the fall. But for 100 students across the country, Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is helping to alleviate some of the worry.
On May 29, TFS hosted its annual“ Community Day” at Toyota Headquarters, where 40 local scholars, family members, and Toyota associates celebrated community volunteerism and the academic success of this year’s Making Life Easier (MLE) scholarship recipients. Festivities included a performance from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruin Marching Band, a presentation from CEO and President Mike Groff, and the presentation of the inaugural George Borst Community Leader Award to Brandi Becker, in recognition of her contribution to the community. And, to celebrate this year’s award scholars, celebrations extended to 14 other TFS locations across the U.S.
Since 2007, TFS has provided over $3.4 million in scholarship awards to more than 600 deserving students as part of its “Making Life Easier” (MLE) scholarship program. This year, TFS awarded Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Youth of the Year winners and provided over $1 million to 100 scholarship recipients across the country. Award recipients were selected from a pool of nonprofit partners, including local Boys & Girls Clubs, LA Harbor Clubs, Carson High School, All Peoples Community Center, Community’s Child, Los Angeles Team Mentoring, and A Place Called Home.
Congratulations Toyota Financial Services!
