Western & Southern Financial Group, a Fortune 500 company, has contributed more than $38 million to the Greater Cincinnati community over the last four years. Much of that support continues to emphasize healthcare in general and cancer care and research in particular with a goal of bolstering medical expertise in the Southwest Ohio/Northern Kentucky area and positioning the region as a center of excellence for medicine and medical research.
The focal point of the Western & Southern’s commitment to supporting cancer causes is its long-standing partnership with the Barrett Cancer Center at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute. For the past decade, the company has initiated many programs and partnerships across the city, all geared toward raising money to benefit the center’s cancer patients. Among them: Strike Out Cancer with the Cincinnati Reds, Tackle Cancer with UC Bearcats football, Western & Southern Thanksgiving Day 10K Walk/Run and Ride Cincinnati.
Ride Cincinnati, which is held every June, is a non-competitive, family friendly cycling event that appeals to riders of all ages and skill levels. All proceeds and any money raised by individual riders and teams, as well as teams sponsored by local businesses, fund pilot grants for breast cancer research at the Barrett Cancer Center.
Western & Southern Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer John F. Barrett and his wife, Eileen, have been actively involved in Ride Cincinnati since its founding in 2007.
Western & Southern is now title sponsor of the event, which has grown from 900 riders to over 2,200 riders, and has raised more than $2 million to fund breast cancer research.
Congratulations Western & Southern Financial Group!
